B.B. & The Blues Shacks in the drive-in cinema
A journey back in time to the 50s, just drive there, pull in, park and have a good evening. The recently rediscovered charm of the drive-in cinema – perfect for B.B. & The Blues Shacks.
With Blues, Soul and Swing they tour Europe and America. And also in Hildesheim, their hometown, B.B. & The Blues Shack always inspire their fans. For example at concerts at the JazzTime, at their traditional Christmas gig in the Bischofsmühle and at their “Heimspiel".
The five professional musicians have been touring for more than 30 years. But this time the stage is a completely new one for Michael Arlt (vocals, harmonica), Andreas Arlt (guitar), Henning Hauerken (bass), Fabian Fritz (piano), André Werkmeister (drums). At the same time this new stage seems to be the natural habitat of the retro-band.
They promise Hildesheim a journey into the past with energy and all their joy of playing. It will be a special evening – a promise to their home town. Organizer is the project office Hi2025. “The B.B.s make drive-in cinema a way of life", says Max Balzer, responsible for public relations at the project office. “It takes a band like this to bring the city together. Numerous concerts have proven that the Blues Shacks know how to do so. And Rhythm & Blues through the car radio, that’s definitely something!
On Saturday, June 13th, starting at 7 pm, B.B. & The Blues Shacks will perform on stage at the drive-in event on the Schützenplatz in Hildesheim. Advance ticket sales are available on the website www.thega-filmpalast.de. This is the direct link: https://www.thega-filmpalast.de/detail/87435/B.B.%20%26%20The%20Blues%20Shacks
Basically, the drive-in events work like conventional drive-in cinemas. Only two people are allowed to sit in each car – but they can come from two households. Parking attendants assign a seat to the guests. “Truckers are also welcome," emphasises Matthias Mehler, Managing Director of the Eventwerft, which organises the drive-in at the Schützenplatz.
The gates will open one hour before the start of the performance. There is a no stopping zone on the adjacent streets. You may only leave your car while on the square to use the toilet facilities. The sound will be transmitted to the cars via radio. For the drive-in events there is a separate transmission frequency available. If you set your receiver to 95.2 Mhz on the square, you will hear everything perfectly.
