We are applying as a city and a region for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2025.

A European Province of Culture

The region of Hildesheim is applying for European Capital of Culture 2025 – 18 towns and villages have consolidated for this purpose. In December 2019 Hildesheim reached the second round of the competition. Together with partners from all over Europe and the world we will create a prototype that shows how a region can be developed using cultural resources.

Progressive Province

There‘s life beyond the metropolises. The potential of provincial regions has been disregarded for too long, with grave consequences for the solidarity of Europe. Centre and periphery – are these still the right categories? We start associating the urban with the rural. We need a deeper understanding between urban spaces and rural areas to stop our societies from drifting apart. Therefore, our candidature trusts in strong networks, both locally and between European regions.
